About this tool

There are some characters, such as &, < and > which cannot be directly represented in HTML. A representation, which involves writing a & followed by a name/code to represent such characters is called HTML entities encoding. For example, to represent &, one must write it as &.

This tool can make such conversions, or convert text containing HTML entities into their normal, textual representation. In addition, symbols such as © which cannot often be represented in HTML due to the text encoding of the document are also converted to their corresponding HTML entities representation.

A full list of HTML entities is available here.
